Tea Party Protestors Hit the Capitol in Force.

The conservative advocacy group the Tea Party Express wrapped up their nationwide tour by staging a huge protest at the Capitol on Saturday.

Protestors who made the trip carried a number of signs and placards that made no bones about their opinions. Some of the slogans read “I didn’t vote for this Obamanation” and “Fire the Czars”. Others carried depicting the President as an African witch doctor and there was great deal of Nazi imagery on display.

Although the march stretched for blocks and was attended by thousands of people, no violence or civil disobedience was reported. The Tea Party Express tour began back in August in Sacramento, CA and has visited 30 cities.

According to the organizers of the Tea Party Express and other related events their movement is currently focusing on three main objectives Defeat President Barack Obama's health care reform efforts, win back the House and Senate in 2010 for the Republican Party and take the White House in 2012.

The movement has no acknowledged leader and organizers will admit that they are still searching for the right person. Some think that former Governor Sarah Palin would make a good choice but others feel that she carries too much negative baggage.

For now the regular speakers at most rallies, including the one in the Capitol on Saturday, are a charismatic activist called Debbie Johns, whose signature cry of “You can have our country when you pry it from our ... cold ... dead ... fingers!" is the common rallying cry for crowds, and a former radio personality, Mark Williams. They both work for Our Country Deserves Better, a political action committee that under wrote the Tea Party Express tour.

The people who gather at the Tea party rallies are often a colorful and eclectic bunch, whose messages and beliefs sometimes border on the extreme. Nazi imagery is abundant which can be off putting to some of the more conservative marchers and it is not unusual to see members carrying weapons in full view of the crowds in the states where open carry is permitted.

While the protestors were voicing their vehement opposition to health care reform in Washington President Obama was hundreds of miles away in Minneapolis, speaking once more at a town hall meeting on the issue.

He raised a laugh when he made a wry mention of his speech on Wednesday before a joint session of Congress, during which Rep Joe Wilson now infamously proclaimed “You Lie”. "I can already see that this crowd is a lot more fun," he told the audience.

  1. They are making a big mistake by saying that this Tea Party movement is not indicative of the nation as a whole. For every Tea Party protester in the streets around the country, there are many more sympathizers back home. And these are not the fringe element, these are ordinary, law abiding average citizens.

  2. The open carry o loaded holstered handguns in public is lawful in 43 states; in most states, no permit is needed to open carry handguns; state restrictions on the open carry of long guns is almost unheard of in the United States.

  3. why are protestors treated negatively? I do not condone Wilsons actions. The real falsehood is when the President stated that his health care plan would not cost the taxpayers any money!!!! In addition if his plan is going to be funded by stopping waste and fraud, it might be time for another Czar.

  4. The Tea Party is completely mischaracterized by this obviously biased author. "great deal of Nazi imagery", "african witch doctor sign" are a couple outright blatent lies. This incopmetent idiot of an author should keep their completely unrealistic view of reality to themselves.

  5. The color of obamas arse has nothing to with the resentment that is mounting against him. Like any other politicians arse it has two cheeks with a verticle split.

From this split comes pouring huge amounts of bovine excrement. This is very normal for any politician of any party..... and from any country.

What taxpayers are complaining about is, they are being told it's a sugar coating and it's good for them. To get their point across they do display poor taste using racial and other hurtful expressions. You know, like Pelosi calling taxpayers unAmerican and astroturf.

  6. It is a fact; Obama is the non plus ultra demagogue in the western world. His rhetoric is only comparable to his beloved coreligionist Hugo Chavez the insane Venezuelan dictator, who is manipulating children to accuse their parents if they criticize the government. It is reminiscent of Nazi Germany. Obama is a born dictator with only a thing in mind ....OBAMA!

  7. Where are these protestors to protest big oil windfall profits? The struggle to alleviate the record billions of dollars in profits despite the increasing charges to the public seem to go on deaf ears. I guess these wackos seem to make a big deal about government spending but don't mind getting ripped off in the name of corporate profit.

  8. What I find absolutely hilarious is the fact that all these "concerned" citizens are coming out protesting in mass the past 9 months since President Obama has been in office. Really makes you wonder if they were really so concerned about the the country being run off a cliff, why were they not protesting all the backwards policies shoved down our throats the prior 8 years that actually got us into the mess we are in now? My best guess is because the last President looked more like one of the Tea Baggers and that made it acceptable.

  9. What this reporter has failed to mention is that most of the nazi and racial signs being waved are by pro Obama plants. This has already been proven.

  10. It goes much deeper than the healthcare fiasco! Obama is a smooth talker, surrounded and pushed up to his successful election by many who are now his czars. These people have no care for america or americans..no matter what color. It isn't about race, religion or political bend. It is now a matter of Americans standing up and stopping the MASSIVE CORRUPTION going on in every facet of government!
Today, Obama spoke regarding the losses of our bailout last year...said there has been no recovery or change..admitted it...then said he is putting the Federal Reserve in charge of overseeing it. He must think he is speaking to idiots! The Federal Reserve is part of the problem..first off..they are not a Federal Program..they print money we don't have..YOU ALL SHOULD WATCH GLENN BECK...learn whats really going on in our country and how bad we need anyone who wishes to have our country back...constitution included....STAND UP...FOR WE THE PEOPLE!!!

  11. I was there with my wife. Our friends and family wished they could be at the rally. It was a love in, the feeling was like nothing I've ever felt before. No violence, no hate, but a feeling of patriotism and defiance of the new media. Thank God for Fox News, or nobody would have known this was happening. They also would not know of the corruption within the Obama Administration. (Acorn, Seiu and all of the Socialists that are part of his support group.)

  12. I love the comment about the Nazi and racial signs being carried by Obama supporters. I guess then that it is possible that the signs calling Bush stupid and a criminal were actually being carried by Bush supporters. What asinine thinking. The signs about Bush were held by people who thought Bush was stupid and a criminal. I know very well since I held those signs. The truth is the people holding those racial signs are racist. Who do those white people want their country back from? The black man.

massive corruption and Glen Beck...but not
    America or Americans
Please look up the definition of a "tea bagger".
